In this article we are giving a list of upcoming dividend paying stocks but before that some brief knowledge about dividend, record date and ex-date.

What is Dividend?

Dividend is a profit sharing by a company to its existing shareholders in terms or shares or cash reward. Dividend is a corporate action evet where company sets a record date and an ex-date. A dividend can be interim, final or a special dividend. Whenever company earns a profit and want to share profit to its existing shareholder then company declares dividend after board member’s approval. But paying dividend is not mandatory company can choose to give or stop paying dividend as per their financial situation or business strategy for future.

What is Record Date?

Record date is a date by which a company determines which shareholders are eligible for paying the dividend. Record date generally comes one day after the ex-dividend date. If someone buy shares on or after record date then he/she will not be eligible for dividend. So if you want to take dividend benefit then you must buy shares days before record date or 1 day before ex-dividend date because to T+2 days needed to settle and update record book of company.

What is Ex-Dividend Date?

Ex-dividend date is one day prior to record date. Ex-dividend date is the date when the company checks its record books for eligible shareholders to pay the dividend. Any investor who bought the shares on or after the ex-dividend date will not be eligible to get dividend.
